How many follicles should a women have if they arent using any drugs?

We have been TTC over a year 6 months ago my cycle stopped completely i was diagnosed with a under-active thyroid started my medicine 2 weeks ago for it today had a sonogram done and they said I have 3 follicles and that this was very good but i thought you only had multiples when using fertility drugs. . . anyone know?
