Civil union rights: but for straight people?

I don't like the idea that 2 people can't work together to better their lives based on what the government says is best for anyone. Our economy is hurting bad and if they knew what was good for the nation, they would allow us to choose who we decide to be successful with. If they would quit choosing "morality" and individual choices, versus what might actually work, our nation might stand a chance. Even if I wasn't gay, and chose to build a life or partnership (in the truest sense of the word) it would profit for everyone that is stateside. I think its an extremely good idea to offer the same rights based on choice and not on .
